Q: Do you take my insurance?
A: We work with many insurance companies to maximize your benefits, except DMO. If you have any questions about dental insurance, our receptionists will do their best to find out the information for you.

Q: What payment options do I have?
A: We ask for payment at the time of service, unless other arrangements have been made. We will and always do our best to estimate your patient portion if you have insurance and ask you to pay only the estimated amount not covered by your insurance. We also accept credit card for your convenience.

Q: I am very nervous about seeing the dentists, how can you make the experience comfortable for patients?
A: The patient’s well-being is extremely important as our medical professionals will dedicate our time and effort in providing the best service for the patient. During our comprehensive exam, we can discuss the concerns you may have as our dentists will make a treatment plan around the respective patient. Please feel free to reach out to our dental professionals as they are more than willing to help you.

Q: What kind of X-ray do you take? 
A: We use digital X-ray with reduced radiology. How often you need them and the type of X-rays you need is individually prescribed for you by our doctors. Keep in mind that we never use x-ray on a routine basis to insure the safety of the patient.

Q: Is the office easy to get to and park? Is it handicap accessible?
A: Our office is located on Route 27 in Edison, close to JFK hospital. There is plenty of parking space around the building as well as being fully Handicap Accessible.

Q: Can I be seen right away if I have an emergency?
A: Though we do not offer 24 hour service, we do take in patients with emergencies during our office hours. If you have an emergency, please feel free to call or come to our office.

I have been in this dental clinic for more than 10 years. Dr. Ma is the best dentist I have met. She is very skillful and patient. She and her office staffs are so nice to everybody. I felt I came home every time when I visited. I recently had a dental implant. This is a long process and take multiple visits and I live far away from the clinic, Dr.Ma always makes every effect to have the appointments to fit my schedule. She even came specifically for me only during a Saturday for my implant emergency fix. Her professional skill is the top over all other dentists I met. Regular Check-Ups
  • This preventive service is to help maintain the condition of your teeth, from improving your general oral hygiene to avoiding and stopping diseases such as cavities and gum disease from developing into more serious conditions.  
  • At Edison Dental 27, regular check-ups includes dental exams, diagnostic digital x-rays, professional cleaning, and instruction of proper at-home oral hygiene. We also provide individual treatment plans.
  • Regular check-ups are critically important to maintain the health of your teeth, gums and mouth. It is suggested to have at least one check-up at least every 6 months.
Fillings
  • This service covers our standard routine maintenance along with additional services when problems arise. We remove decay and replace it with a variety of options depending on the affected type and area.  Filling is one of the most straightforward ways to repair worn, damaged or decayed teeth.
  • At Edison Dental 27, we use a variety of restorative options depending on the best treatment for the patient. This includes direct one time visit fillings such as traditional alloy, glass ionomer, tooth colored light curing composite, or indirect metal and porcelain restorations such as inlay or onlay.
Root Canal Therapy
  • The root canal is actually the space holding the soft core, or dental pulp of the tooth. When there is an infection or injury to the pulp area, you might experience severe toothache.
  • If a patient has any symptoms mentioned previously, our dental professionals will provide root canal therapy, which means we will remove diseased or damaged dental pulp, clean the pulp chamber and root canal(s), then seal and save the tooth.
Crowns & Bridges
  • A crown serves many purposes, including strengthening and improving the appearance of discolored or badly shaped teeth. This treatment will support teeth with large fillings, protect weak teeth from breaking, and restore broken teeth.
  • A bridge is used to replace missing teeth. We bridge the gap between the missing teeth with artificial ones. A fixed bridge cannot be removed and it has to be anchored to natural teeth on both sides.
  • We can make crowns and bridges out of gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these. We consider both crown and bridge as the type of fixed restoration, since neither of them can be removed.
Dentures
  • A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. There are two types of dentures available, partial and complete dentures. Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain, while complete dentures are used in the case when all the teeth within the mouth are gone.
  • Dentures can improve your smile and your whole facial appearance, as well as making it much easier to eat and speak.
Periodontal Treatment (Gum Disease Treatment)
  • Periodontal disease is a chronic infection, involving the deterioration of the gum and bone that anchors the teeth. It is caused by a bacterial infection, wherein the bacteria becomes embedded in the root areas of the teeth, where they serve as colonies for more bacteria which then destroy the underlying bone. As time goes on, the teeth may become sensitive, the gum recedes, bleeds, and eventually will becomes mobile and abscessed.
  • In more serious cases, the inflammatory response of the entire body to the disease present within the mouth has led researchers to note that gum disease is a causative factor in heart attack, stroke, low birth weight, kidney disease, diabetes, and more.
  • At Edison Dental 27, we emphasize on oral hygiene maintenance and provide non-surgical gum disease treatment (scaling & root planing), which is the first step to treat periodontal disease. Gum disease need not cause tooth loss or other more serious systemic disease.
Extractions
  • We remove all kinds of teeth, including baby teeth and hopeless adult ones, except impacted wisdom teeth.

Cosmetic Whitening or Bleaching

  • If you worry about your teeth being stained and discolored, whitening is a service that can be provided with in-office products and techniques.  Whitening is a simple process.  A bleaching agent is applied to the discolored or stained teeth to brighten them. 
  • At Edison Dental 27, we use Zoom products for in-office treatments. The whole procedure is simple and fast, which takes approximately one and a half hours, showing immediate and satisfactory results.
Cosmetic Veneer & Others
  • Veneer is a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the visible area of the tooth.  Veneers are usually only done to the parts of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling.  The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that veneers are much more conservative, whereby more natural tooth structure is preserved.  Veneers are indicated when one wants to change the shape, color of their teeth to improve their smile.
  • At Edison Dental 27, we also take care of chipped off or broken teeth along with gaps or misalignment by providing one or more cosmetic procedures. This includes composite resin bonding, porcelain veneers, crowns, implant replacement and full dentition orthodontic repositioning.

Implant Dentistry

Dental implants are ideal and the preferred way to restore missing teeth, they look and function as your natural ones. 

A dental implant is a titanium or titanium alloy artificial tooth root that is placed into your jawbone. Once the implant has successfully integrated within the bone, a crown or a bridge can be placed on top, which will restore your tooth function and appearance.

  • Whenever you are ready or if you have any questions, please give us a call to schedule your complimentary consultation. 
  • It is very important for us to perform a thorough medical history review and clinical exam with the patient.  Diabetes, liver disease, severe bleeding disorder and other underlying conditions make implants contraindicated. 
  • We also have to perform an oral exam to study bone quality and quantity, as well as a radiographic exam including a panoramic film and 3D cone beam to plan the exact position to place the implant.

Single Tooth Implants
  • We place a single implant to the edentulous spot, at the later stage restore a single crown on the top to replace the missing tooth.

Multi-Teeth Implants
  • We place more than one implant to the edentulous jawbone, followed by a later stage restorative implant-supported bridge, which is a permanent replacement and does not come loose like a removable denture.

Implant-Supported Overdentures
  • We make implant supported overdentures, which can be snapped onto the implants to maximize security and stability while still can be removed for easy cleaning.
  • Compared with regular removable complete dentures, implant-supported overdenture is more stable, comfortable and cosmetic friendly.
All On Four Dental Implants
  • We make the fixed full arch replacement of all-on-4 dental implants.
  • The full arch replacement is connected and fixed on just four implants, it doesn’t come loose like a removable complete denture, it can only be fixed and removed by the dentist.
  • The full arch replacement of all-on-4 implants looks and functions as your natural teeth, it can benefit the patients who don’t want or qualify for removable dentures.
